Dreamers by Shirin Neshat shortlisted for PHotoEspaña 2019’s Best Photography Books of the Year Award

The book Dreamers by Shirin Neshat, edited by Ivorypress in 2018, has been shortlisted by PHotoESPAÑA 2019 for the Best Photography Book of the Year, in the National category. Dreamers will be exhibited as part of PHotoESPAÑA’s programme in a group exhibition at the Biblioteca Nacional (Paseo de Recoletos, 20-22), along with the rest of the books shortlisted.

Conceived as a tri-fold photography book printed in black and silver duotone, Dreamers is based on Shirin Neshat’s trilogy of black and white video installations, which comprises Illusions & Mirrors (2013), featuring Natalie Portman, Roja (2016) and Sarah (2016). Three stories exploring women’s dreams through emotional and psychological narratives, remaining on the border of dream and reality, madness and sanity, consciousness and subconsciousness.

The exhibition will open on Thursday 6 June and will remain open to the public until 1 September 2019.
