Venice Biennale
Ivorypress, in collaboration with Foster + Partners, was in charge of the production, design and implementation of two rooms curated by Norman Foster at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2012.
Gateway, located at the entrance of the Corderia Building at the Arsenale, will be the first hall the visitor will find, serving as an introduction to this edition’s theme: ‘Common Ground‘. It comprises four synchronized projections made by filmmaker Carlos Carcas, with a soundtrack by Fernando Pocostales and a site specific installation by Scottish artist Charles Sandison, developed in collaboration with Norman Foster.
In the Giardini Central Pavilion another room will be dedicated to Norman Foster’s HSBC Bank building, which was built in Hong Kong in the early eighties and since then has become a centre for various social activities taking place in the city. The room comprises a model and original drawings by Norman Foster, Andreas Gursky’s photograph Hong Kong Bank, videos by Marisa González and several paintings of the building by artist Ben Johnson.
The 13th International Architecture Exhibition, ‘Common Ground‘, is directed by David Chipperfield and opened from 29 August to 25 November 2012
