Guillaume Bruère: Drawings in the Museum
On 7 February 2018 Ivorypress presented in collaboration with the Museo Lázaro Galdiano the exhibition Guillaume Bruère: Drawings in the Museum.
The show, curated by Amparo López Redondo, gathered thirty-five drawings created by Bruère that interpret the most notorious artworks from the Museo Lázaro Galdiano. Both works were exhibited contiguously, those created by Bruère as the classic references, maintaining a dialogue between the contemporary and the consecrated.
Among the fifty drawings that the artist made during five days, there are versions inspired in El aquelarre by Goya, San Francisco de Asís en éxtasis by El Greco or Meditaciones de San Juan Bautista by El Bosco.
This drawing collection belongs to a methodology that the artist has been putting into practice for ten years. Bruère has done interpretations in diverse museum such as the Louvre, the Alta Pinakothek, the Gemäldegalerie or the Kunsthaus Zürich.
