Book launch ‘Bravo’ by Felipe Romero Beltrán

On Wednesday, 11 June, Ivorypress hosted the book launch of ‘Bravo’ by Colombian photographer Felipe Romero Beltrán, with a conversation between the author and Victoria del Val ((Touring Exhibitions Manager and KBr Photo Award Curator, FundaciónMapfre).
Bravo inhabits the liminal space of the Rio Bravo—the border between Mexico and the United States—where geography and identity collide amid ongoing migration and political tension. Focusing on a 270-kilometre stretch of the river, Romero Beltrán constructs a restrained yet potent visual narrative in which the river emerges as a silent, near-mythic presence. Although rarely seen, it exerts a constant influence, shaping the destinies of those who come near it but may never cross.
Through stark portraits, austere domestic interiors, and desolate landscapes marked by both natural erosion and human struggle, Bravo captures the temporal suspension of migration. Beltrán’s subjects live in prolonged uncertainty, often waiting for years in a limbo defined by hope, fear, and the unrelenting weight of geopolitical forces.
After the conversation the author signed copies in the Ivorypress Bookshop.
