From the Orchard to the Garden

Ivorypress presented From the orchard to the garden, the first exhibition of Yves Berger (1976, Saint-Jeoire, Haute-Savoie, France) at Ivorypress.

The show features recent works on paper, using three different techniques; monoprints of apple trees done during spring 2016, etchings of human figures worked over the last years, and pastel drawings of flowers done in an Alpine botanical garden during the month of June 2016.

By playing with this body of work Berger discovered how the themes chosen intertwined with each other. Starting with the idea of keeping them separate, like different rooms of the same house, he worked for months on a lay-out that progressively took him far away from his starting point. It was no longer a triptych he was facing, but a journey he was entering.
