Naarashauki: The female pike

In «The Female Pike,» Männikkö’s most famous book, he focuses on Finnish city dwellers who own second cabins in the countryside, to which they retreat to hunt or fish. Beautifully composed and showing a keen eye for color and light, and a strong feel for the right moment, the images are printed in Männikkö’s typically lush colors on heavy matt paper. The book was selected by Parr and Badger for inclusion in their «The History of the Photobook.» Also, Männikkö won the prestigious Deutsche Börse Photography prize in 2008 for a collection of his work which featured many images from this book.
