X, Y, Z, t illuminates a complete atlas with the cartographic work of Andrés Fernández, an artist in the Debajo del Sombrero group, a creation platform Caniche introduced with Some things, from somewhere (2018), project held by Naves Matadero Madrid Centro Internacional de Artes Vivas during one year. Andrés Fernández relates to the world through his maps, a complex system that gradually grows to include, in no apparent order, maps, texts, and lists that speak for him and unfold chapters of his biography. A work that reflects with extreme simplicity and candor his relationship to the world and his wonder at the mystery and strength of life.

“Traveling through the writing and lines with which Andrés Fernández portrays his life —writes critic and curator Frederic Montornés in the book—, in addition to being captivatingly imaginative, uninhibited, free and vital, also takes us inside a way of being, feeling and living through each experience, sensation, perception, thought and emotion as what it truly is, that is, of top importance for the existence of the artist, of vital importance for the existence of us all. And Andrés’ work, in addition to referring to what it captures, says, writes or portrays is a path that forks into branches as surprising as the one that talks about our evolution from birth to death”.
