The new work of this artist is the result of her research on eighteenth-century caste painting, an artistic-cultural phenomenon that occurred mainly in Mexico and Peru, which portrayed the changes that occur when different races mix (indigenous , African and Spanish). Through a color code, in which each primary color represents each race and each mixture is resolved with percentages of these colors, and an alphabet encoded as a hieroglyph, these pictures transmit “what the painting of castes hides” , according to Emilia Azcárate. The book features texts by Juan Carlos Ledezma (on the artist’s painting), Ilona Katzew (on the painting of castes) and Philip Ball (on the theory of color).
