Born in Lannion in 1981, Laëtitia Donval lives and works in Brest.

Laëtitia Donval takes photographs of what she is drawn to: immersing herself in the most unexpected aspects of daily life. Enthralled by a hidden, other reality, her work is armed with ambiguity to help break through the commonplace and expose a harsh and weakened reality. Landscapes, portraits, still lifes are all subjects for examination in her empirical science of the exhilarating and fragile moment.

The series, En surface, was produced during a stay as artist-in-residence in Nature Humaine, in the Centre region of France.

She has frequently taken part in artists’ residencies and her work has been featured in exhibitions both in France and abroad, including: Begira’12 Photo Festival – Museo de Arte e Historia (Durango-Espagne), Centre Atlantique de la Photographie (Brest), Le Bal (Paris), F/Stop Festival (Leipzig), International Center of Photography (New York), RIP (Arles), QPN (Nantes), Festival Les Photaumnales (Beauvais), or Kunsthalle – Global Art and the Museum (Sao Paulo). ?In 2010 Donval published her first book, Nerves, followed by Bombed (2013) and Fluent (2014). IN 2013 she edited SMOKE magazine.
