Pop-up artists books workshop with Kaho Kojima

On 14 and 15 June Ivorypress Bookshop hosted a theoretical and practical workshop about the production process of a pop-up artist’s book, imparted by Japanese artist Kaho Kojima. The workshop was intended for those who are interested in the creation of artist’s books and books as objects, as well as work on paper and making pop-ups.

The artist shared her particular creative process, her knowledge about these types of bibliographic creations, her publishing model and the sense of her work. Participants analyzed in detail the process of creation of these publications and had the chance to create their own pop-up book with the materials provided.

Kaho Kojima is from Japan and currently lives in London. She graduated in Communications from the University of London and holds a degree in Graphic and Media design. The artist has shown her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United Kingdom, Denmark and Japan. Kojima works in the areas of etching and illustration, but specialises particularly in the manual creation of books. She has created many pop-up books such as Under the Tree, A Drop of Cloud or Organic City – London and her volumes can be found in public collections such as the library of Tate Modern and the centers of the Central and North West London National Health Service (CNWL NHS) Foundation Trust.
