Elimination Process: Martin Parr facing Spanish Photobooks

2 / 12 / 2013

IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) Madrid, Ivorypress and the Photobook Club Madrid invited all of those who have published a photobook to present it and comment on its creative process with Martin Parr and all of those who drop by the Ivorypress Bookshop on 2 December at 5 p.m.

Why is a certain kind of paper more suitable than another? How can we select the right photographs, capable of balancing the journey from the first to the last page of a photobook? How to adapt the budget to the original idea? Every photobook project goes through several phases before reaching the bookstores. This elimination process, both artistic and of production, is key to define why each page has been selected to be part of the final object. Among all the lucky authors who come to see their idea published, lately the photography world has especially recognised the freshness and scope of various Spanish publications.

During the meeting, a maximum of five projects and their previous elimination process will be presented. The projects will be selected between those interested in showing their book.

This event was the result of the collaboration between IED Madrid, Ivorypress and the Photobook Club Madrid with the goal of promoting the photobook as a vehicle for artistic expression.
