During Dagoberto Rodríguez’s exhibition opening the Majorcan musician and compositor Joan Valent will present his latest album in concert. Poetic Logbook II: Cayo Paredón is part of a trilogy that traces a musical path using two distinct registers– the geographic and the literary. All three albums that form part of this trilogy share the same format: five instrumental oeuvres that derive in form of variation from a principal theme, accompanied by Hispanic and North American verse.

Cayo Paredón is the main theme from which the rest of the variations from Poetic Logbook II derive. The work’s title celebrates the birthplace and hometown of Dagoberto Rodríguez’s mother, the primary artist with whom Valent has collaborated on this project. This concert will also mark the first public performance of Cayo Paredón.
