I preferred to use black for my work simply because I never had the means to set up a darkroom for colour¿ [with colour] one could do some very chic things, monochrome, really lovely¿ using colours as drab as possible. After all I always get caught up by colour, it inspires me with a purer feeling, more aesthetic, whereas black and white is more ideological, more cerebral. Ugo Mulas
