This beautiful book published in 1977, is a wonderful look back into the past of the golden age of movie costume and design. Starting off from Theda Bara in 1919 going all the way through to the tv area of Carol Burnet show and Cher with designs by Bob Mackie. It is a mix of old photos from the movies and television and how the costumes looked back when they were new and extroadinary color plates of the costumes as displayed on plain white manequins at the Metropolitan Museum of Art during a special exhibition they were having at the time about old Hollywood. In the back they give a brief synopsis of each costume designer This book is priceless for anyone that is student studying design or and old theatre and movie buff like me. This book is a hidden gem an should be put back in print. I give it an A+ for the extreme thought and beauty that went into it. From its elegant brocade cover to the layout and design of its contents. This book is a winner
