Burke + Norfolk

In October 2010, Simon Norfolk began a series of new photographs in Afghanistan. Norfolk’s photographs are a response to the work of nineteenth-century Irish photographer John Burke, in the context of the contemporary conflict. The project was conceived as a collaborative venture with Burke across time. Norfolk’s new work from Kabul and Helmand is presented alongside Burke’s original portfolios.
