A deep connection between German and Brazilian cultures runs through this book, which diligently investigates some of the origins of Brazilian design in Ulm, Germany. The Ulm School of Design developed there, where a fertile cultural terrain, successor to the Bauhaus and movements such as Concrete Art, shaped the visual thinking of important artists and designers of the mid-20th century. The publication reviews the trajectory of the professionals, the works and the visual thought of the HfG Ulm and the Brazilian institutes founded for the development of design in the country, such as the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), linked to the Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand (Masp), and the Escola Superior de Desenho Industrial (ESDI), in Rio de Janeiro.
