This is a new monograph on perhaps the most influential architect of the 20th century. It features new, specially commissioned photographs and commentary on 16 built and 21 unbuilt houses. This eagerly-anticipated publication contains a compendium of Mies’ houses, built between 1906 and the beginning of the 1960s – Riehl, Perls, Werner, Farnsworth, McCormick, Morris Greenwald and many more – showing the enduring influence he has had over the whole of the last century in both Europe and the USA. Text comes from both architecture expert Beatriz Colomina and Mies van der Rohe himself (speaking about his ‘Unbuilt Houses’), while the previously unpublished photographs, specially commissioned from the prestigious German photographer Hans-Christian Schink, reflect the timeless beauty of his work. This will be one of the major architectural publications of 2009, as demonstrated by its status as a double issue of the prestigious 2G journal
