Veru Iché (Mar del Plata, Argentina, 1972) 'It is important for me to create images that can give way to other stories, often much more incredible than the original ones. I try not to control all of the spaces, because the viewer’s inventiveness is sacred to me. However, I should also add that I invent memories by bringing back characters from my own dreams, creating an environment, an aesthetic and a lived existence for them. The process of my photographs often begins with an analogue shot and a chemical process which I then deteriorate with ink and scratches. Then I create a collage with my own photos and finally I digitalise and alter the image by breaking the pixel in order to install the narrative between reality and fiction. A photograph is simply a frame from a great film that tries to capture the essence of the entire journey as if extracting a complex perfume.’
